I am the waters
of the rivers flow
I am the earth
beneath the leaves
of the woodland floor
I am the rocks
worn smooth
by the river god
as he makes sensuous love
to the depths of my soul
I am the roots of the oak
that plunge deep in the earth
and protect the river bank
from this god’s wildest passions
